Pre combat checks (PCCs) are almost complete. Just need to pack my Rucksack.
1. 4 days - 4 States - 4 rounds of Golf - with brother in Arms, Family and Friends. BUT the best part (sorry family) is:
2. Being the keynote speaker on 6 May for the Society of American Military Engineers and helping award scholarships to deserving students. PLUS:
3. We get to announce the awarding of $1,000 in honor of SGT Bradley Beste to Mr. Bradley Strickland. AND:
4. We get to announce a new award: The SPC Chris Strickland Resilence Award or “Kick Ass Award” that will be awarded to individuals who have lost limbs and overcome setbacks to continue to excel and survive.
It is named after Chris who was wounded with us in Ramadi, Iraq by an IED and lost his hand and blind in his eye (I think he was blind anyway by the way he always shot). Chris had the most hilarious statements in the field hospital with me standing next to him and is one tough dude.
I can’t wait to talk a little about Leadership by highlighting a truly great leader in SGT Bradley Beste and talking about Chris and those I served with.
Plus I get to kick Jeff, Brian, and Steve’s ass in Golf while hanging out with Uncle George on Sunday.
