Positive Post for Veterans, Wounded Warriors, Families, and Active Duty.
1. Last summer while talking to my Poly Trauma Rehabilitation Therapist, Lucile, she asked me what I used to enjoy that I could no longer do and I said “Play golf with my cousins and uncle when I would come home on Leave from the Army”. I missed it. I physically couldn’t enjoy it anymore with the migraines, physical pain and depression from not being able to play with my friends and family.
“We have programs to help you!!!” She said and I was sent links to different programs. Timing was perfect and a few short clicks and I was enrolled into 2 programs with my old chaplain L.E. Pearsall Jr. I would like to share them below to help others.
1. Links to Freedom. Go to www.linkstofreedom.org. and learn about their 8-week programs in the Spring and Fall. Spring started already or is about to start but become a volunteer and donor and get in on the action for the fall. Clinics at Belvoir, Bragg, Bliss and Sam Houston and a collaboration near Baltimore.
I fell in love with this program and it has changed my future. I will explain at the bottom. Please check it out.
2. PGA Hope. www.pgareach.org/about
These are clinics in multiple locations around the United States.
3. Veteran Golfers Association. www.vgagolf.org. Once you have gone through a program OR if you are comfortable around a golf course, you can join the VGA and play golf with Veterans and their Family Members and it’s competitive. BUT they use a Handicap scoring system so everyone can compete and their is multiple divisions and flights. If you sign up - WRITE ME first!!! I get points for referral code.
So how has this changed me!!!
4. My depression is down!! My outlook is up!!! My medications are lowered. My weight is down. I am around veterans who understand me and speak my language. What these programs preach is true!!! They make OUR lives better!!!
I immediately became a monthly donor of L2F. I signed up with the VGA and I volunteer with PGA Hope.
My wife and I made a huge decision 3 weeks ago on the flight back from the podcast with Jocko and after I landed I…
Called my college and changed my graduate program and am now pursuing a degree in Golf Teaching and Management so that I can help Disabled Veterans and Families find therapy through golf. That is our retirement plan.
To give back to OUR community the way these programs gave back to me. Now I just need to pay for it and make it happen but it will happen.
Sorry for the length but I want to help others see there are programs out there they may not know about.
Get out there and chop that shit up!!!! See you on the course.
